Hi! My name is Sydney Hilbush and I am currently a junior at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Political Science and pursuing a double minor in Public Policy and Journalism. I am an avid journalist, photographer, political conversationalist, and climate activist, and I one day hope to translate these interests into a future career in policy, law, journalism, or research. For the first few years of my life, I grew up in sunny San Diego before moving to Marin County, a suburb of the Bay Area, where my love for nature and interest in politics grew in tandem.
I am uniquely passionate about racial justice, fighting to combat the climate crisis, and improving the United States' carceral system. While I believe that these issues exist in an interlocking web, these individuals issues are representative of the larger struggle in American society to uplift disadvantaged communities and create a more diverse, inclusive society that treats all Americans with equal respect and dignity.
